The Waiting

Being organized and efficient is not always the best medicine. There are three days to go before we board the plane that takes my daughter to the next exciting phase of her life, and we are so ready it’s excruciating. All the boxes are packed and shipped, closets are organized, shopping’s done…there’s nothing left to check off the list except to make sure there’s enough dog and cat food for when the house sitter comes. I guess it’s better than feeling the panic of too many last minute things to get done, but this morning as I lay awake at 5:00 a.m. I’m not so sure.

All I do know for sure is we are both ready, like two children who are so excited yet dreading that first day of school, waiting at the bus stop for what seems like forever before the bus finally comes.

That reminds me…I’d better start a new shopping list for a case of travel-pack tissues, because I’m pretty sure a large box qualifies as an extra carry on.
